Graduation Party!

Okay so my blog is now up to date! I put several posts on here so be sure to scroll down and read them all!

So my roommates and Cara threw me and Kristen a graduation party. Kristen is Cara's other roommate who also graduated. It was just a small get together with our friends that live at Village Green - plus Kathryn and Heather! Cara made us dinner and then my roommates made dessert! It was a lot of fun and I was happy to celebrate with this group of friends!

Christmas Party!

Chelsea hosted a Christmas party at her house with all of our friends from high school. Except, a lot of people couldn't make it. Those who were present included The Browns, The Joyners, The Bennetts, Catherine Wilson, Catherine Bush, Brendan Roberts, Mitch Danforth and Jon Horner and his fiance! It was definitely a fun time! Saturday night Natalie, Julie (my neighbor) and I went to Catherine's cabin in Hillsborough! It was raining the whole time so we couldn't have a fire and roast marshmellows. :-( But it was still a fun time to spend with some friends! We were all definitely really tired from the long day of graduation festivities so we basically just relaxed the whole time we were there. And it was so neat to hear the rain on the roof of the cabin! And we had to stay warm by their wood stoves!!

This was the only picture that turned out half decent. :-( The weather was yucky right after graduation and most of the pictures from my camera aren't clear. Hopefully my stepmother got some better ones!

But YES.... I finally graduated from Meredith College. It was not a bittersweet day for me at all..... it was just sweet. I am not sad to leave Meredith! I am so glad that I am done. WOOHOO! It was a long ceremony. My mom and Chuck drove in from Kentucky. The others present were my dad, stepmother, sister and my best friend Catherine! Afterwards we all went and ate at Mellow Mushroom..... yummy.

I am so excited for Christmas! My roommates and I got a tree and we decorated our apartment. It looks very festive. White lights during Christmas time are my favorite. I am almost done with school! Tonight was my last night of really hard work - I had to edit and finish up 3 papers I have been working on. Wednesday is officially my last day of class. Then I have 1 exam on Friday and one on Monday and I am done FOREVER!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Graduation is on the 15th.

That's all for now. I have gotten used to staying up super late because of my work load from school but I better hit the sack for now.

I am ready for Chrismas!!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I spent Thanksgiving day with my friend Cara and her family. They live in Salisbury, NC so I traveled out there for one night. I was so worried that I wouldn't have anyone to spend Thanksgiving with and I was very sad I had to miss out on going to Kentucky! So Thank you Graham family for opening up your home to me! Thank you also to Jessica and Heather, who very kindly invited me to join them for Thanksgiving!

I have gotten a lot of work done on my project! I have a HUGE paper that I need to complete along with lots of other work. I am gotten most of my paper done and completed another assignment for my class. I have also done some volunteering so I am almost done with my hours!!! yay!

And yes, Sierra very graciously posed for the picture. She asked me to put the mini wreath on her head and she very willingly cuddled with the Santa. Just kidding! That took me about half an hour to get that picture. I know, that could have been half an hour I could have been typing away about Blood Diamonds and present day slavery but I just thought that picture would be so cute! And it is!!! I did take a break from writing last night and started to put up decorations around my apartment. Sierra and I had a fun time together. We cuddled all night long too! That is one reason why I love having her sleepover here - she can sleep with me in my bed.

Anyway, I guess that is all. This week coming up is filled with group meetings, 1 test, 1 quiz, my project deadline for my Context of Culture class and my service learning deadline for my social work class. But hey, only 21 more days until I graduate! :-)

Shout out to Camden

This blog entry is dedicated to Camden Lane Brown. He turns 3 years old on Thursday! I cannot believe it has been 3 years old since the day he was born. Time sure does fly by! I love Camden so much and he really is just like a nephew to me. I am so luck to have him, his mommy and his daddy in my life! So happy birthday Camden!!!!

Here are some of my favorite memories with Camden:

-when i stayed over at their apartment when camden was still a newborn. i took care of him when he got up during the night so ashley and david could sleep. It was one of the feedings in the middle of the night and he fell asleep on my stomach! so i let him stay there. it was so sweet and definitely a bonding moment! :-)

-when he started to call me "yaya" (he tried say Cara and it came out YaYa - it means grandmother but I still think it is cute! Now that name has stuck and all the little kiddies in my life call me that! thanks to camden!)

-when he was scared of a pink poodle stuffed animal in borders (it made him shake and cry)

-any time i get to babysit him

-teaching him the "hi sign" from the little rascals

-i taught him that my "other" name was also camden lane brown so when I say "what is my other name?" he says "camden lane brown." He has been doing that for a while so he has a great memory.

old friends are the best of friends

Tonight several friends came over. We had a fun time just hanging out, talking and playing with the kiddies! I have been friends with these girls for over 7 years now (9 years with catherine!). David and Arnaud were there too but they played video games most of the time! haha.

Hello! I am sorry I have not been updating at usual! This past week was SO busy for me...... I had 2 tests and I had to work in the morning and afternoon. I also stayed late a few nights at work so I was a little sleep deprived. I hope everyone is doing well. Currently, I am considering staying here for Thanksgiving because I have SOOOOOOOOOOO much work to do. It would definitely be more than beneficial for me to stay here. I would miss having Thanksgiving with all of my family for the first time in my life, but I must graduate in December and staying here would definitely move things along. I still have 22 hours of volunteer service to complete and a HUGE project due after Thanksgiving so being here would help. Im not sure yet what I would do on Thanksgiving day! I might have to spend it alone and doing homework, because most of my close friends that will be here already have plans! Anyway, this next week I have 2 projects and 1 paper due. Less stressful than 2 tests but still a big week as i am also working everyday! sorry no pictures this time. nothing new! love to you all!!

Happy Halloween!

So this year I was fairly disappointed with halloween. Here are some pictures. I did not include one of me because I ended up hating my costume. I was a witch but my hat would not stay pointed up and all the pictures of me are horrible! Me, Cara, Heather and Chuck went to the Haunted Hillsborough St. and it was not that happening. For reference, don't go there for Halloween!

I don't know who this is but I LOVED this bunny! It made me laugh every time I saw him so I finally took his picture.

It's cold :-(

it is really starting to get cold now. and i think it is going to stay cold. i am very saddened by this. the only things that i like about cold weather are halloween, snow and christmas. and seeing as global warming is real and we haven't had much snow in the past two years (and i have been very let down), my expectations are low for any big snows this year. so that only gives me 2 things to look forward to with the cold weather and one is about to happen in 2 days! so really that only leaves christmas. you might say i should move up north because then i would get lots of snow. but that probably won't work either but it is too cold for me. i think north carolina is the perfect state, despite the lack of snow. BUT i do get to look forward to graduation on december 15!!!

so anyway. last week i was very busy! i worked everyday and it was my roommate Dana's birthday. my other roommate and i decorated the apartment for her. a few of her friends came over on friday night. i spent saturday and sunday doing homework and laying in bed. i didn't feel good almost the whole weekend.

Fair/Birthday Bash

So this week the two big events in my life were the state fair and my dad's 46th birthday party! I also had a test and babysat a total of 19 hours! whew. I did a lot of relaxing this weekend. Anyway here are some pictures from the party!

Fall Break!

Here is a recap of my fall break:

friday: i hung out with ashley, david and camden then i built a tent with my roommates. we built it in our living room and then laura and i slept in it!

saturday: i headed to Catherine's cabin. we went into chapel hill for lunch, ran some errands and then enjoyed just hanging out at her place for the night. some fun friends came and we stayed up until 6:00 am!

sunday: catherine, me, adam and sarah headed back to chapel hill for some lunch and ice cream. then i went to the joyner's new house!! i ended up sleeping over in their guest bedroom because i was having so much fun! sleepovers with the joyners are definitely one of my very favorite things!

Ethan and Luda

Every so often I get to take Ethan and Luda to the Kids Together Park in Cary. It is such a nice park and they absolutely love it there! I surprised them when I picked them up from school! Then we all went to get icees because yesterday was such a hot day! Oh, and for those of you who don't know, Ethan and Luda are the kids I babysit every week! I love them so much!

This weekend my cousin Eli came all the way from Lexington, KY to visit with me! He also brought his friend Emily so he wouldn't have to make that long drive by himself. We had a fun and relaxing weekend. Friday I took them downtown and then to Cameron Village. Natalie came over that night and we went out to eat to Ragazzi's. Saturday we ate at the Farmer's Market and had a more lazy/relaxing day. They had to leave super early on Sunday morning to make it back for work but it was a great visit!

This week is my fall break (thursday and friday) but I have a test on Tuesday and then I am working and volunteering. So it looks like it is still going to be a busy week.

This is Catherine's dog, Sawyer. I am in love with her by the way. Chelsea brought her dog Chloe too and the two of them were bff all weekend!

This was super funny. Catherine happened to go into the kitchen after we had all gone to bed on Saturday and found soap suds all over the floor! It took us an hour to clean up but is funny now! This is Catherine and Cara in cleaning action.

This weekend was super fun. This was our annual trip to the lake with my close group of girlfriends. The group consisted of me, Chelsea, Cameron, Ashley, Catherine and then my two friends, Cara and Kathryn! Sadly, the lake water was too low because of this dang drought and we couldn't take the boat or jet ski out on the water. That is always one of my favorite parts so I was really bummed out! But we spent Saturday laying out on the dock! Cara, Kathryn and I got on a tube (which was huge) and paddled it out to the middle of the lake so that was fun! And I got to drive the golf cart around so that made up for not being able to ride the jet ski..... sorta but not really. I am just trying to convince myself of that. The rest of the time we all just talked and laughed! I seriously have the greatest friends in the world!
