Oscars 2009

So, as everyone should know, I am obsessed with all things having to do with movie stars. The Academy Awards is like a Holiday for me. And probably my favorite holiday besides Christmas. I look forward to this event all year long. I had it in my planner as soon as they released the date for the 2009 ceremony! Well, this year my other movie fanatic friend Kathryn and I had a little party for the Oscars. There were only 5 people total but I couldn't of handled any more than that because I needed total concentration to watch my favorite stars.

It was a big night for me. Meryl AND Kate were both nominated for Best Actress. AND Jennifer Aniston was a surprise presenter (I was so proud of her for standing right in front of Brangelina - did everyone catch her smile to them? I DID!! I wish she would have stuck her tongue out instead!) Also, I LOVED Ben Stiller's impersonation of Joaquin and the musical number with Hugh Jackman and Beyoncee. I was also pleased that Brad, Angelina and Anne Hathaway all lost!!

Here is my favorite picture of the night! Two of my favorite actresses. If Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet were in this, I would have it blown up and hung over my bed.

And Kate won! I actually wanted Meryl to win the Oscar since she hasn't won one in 26 years. BUT Kate was the only other one nominated that I was okay with beating Meryl. Kate has been nominated for 5 others so I am definitely glad she won too. And she thanked Emma Thompson in acceptance speech!!!

I LOVED Penelope Cruz's acceptance speech too. I was rooting for Viola Davis to win but I assume this is just fine!

I am sad award season is over but it's only 7 months or so until it starts back up again!!!

I have Laryngitis.

BOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I started getting sick on Saturday. By Sunday night, I had absolutely NO voice and felt awful. My health has continued to decline and I still feel bad even now! I am about to take my NyQuil and head to bed.

This seems to be going around and it is contagious! So wash your hands like crazy.

My Valentine's Day.....

My blogger is messed up and won't let me type above the pictures so I figured I would include the words separate for the next post.

On Valentine's Day Todd and Emily hosted a game night at their house! It was so much fun! And it was nice to have actual plans with friends on Valentine's Day. Usually I dread the day and honestly, it is probably my least favorite holiday (and not because I am single). Anyway, I loved being able to spend it with these sweet friends of mine! We ordered pizza and played 1 game. We mostly talked and played with the kiddos. The highlight of the night, for me, was the heart shaped ice cubes of course!!! Thank you Todd and Emily for having everyone over!

After that I went to hang out with my "single" friends. It was a great Valentine's Day for me!

My Valentine's Day.....

Grace Elizabeth

I kept confusing these two throughout the night because they both had on stripes.... but they both were super cute! Mecaden and Grace Elizabeth.
Ashley and Camden!

The Browns (minus Camden)

Me getting some love from Mr. Anderson. I love him so very much.

SO cute!! I think this was his first time sitting in a Bumbo and he loved it. I got a couple of cute pictures of him sitting in it!

Camden feeding a baby.... look how serious he is!

Attempting to get a picture with Eva and Mecaden... didn't work out so well.

What a cutie!!!!

Levi! I love this picture of him. I got to hang out with him more this night! He is so sweet!

Bella might have A,D,D,..... and might be part hyena!

SO, I think most everyone knows that Bella and I are doing an obedience training class right now. We just had our 4th class tonight and we have 2 more to go! She is doing well for the most part! When we get to class she just really wants to play with the other dogs and that is not allowed. I love the teacher though and she is helping me out so much! Unfortunately, Bella requires more attention from the teacher than all the other dogs. She is just so hyperactive! My teacher, Sylvie, just keeps saying that Bella believes she was born to be greeted by everyone.

Well, tonight she also said that she thinks Bella needs to be tested for A.D.D. Some of the exercises are just so hard for her because all she wants to do is play and meet the other dogs and people. I am switching her diet (again) to a food that is supposed to help dogs with A.D.D. and then she is going to get tested next week. If she does have it then that will definitely answer a lot! I get so impatient with her because she is just so hyper, has a hard time listening and is hard to control. Anyone who has met Bells for less than 10 minutes knows this. Despite what some people think, I have spent a lot of time with her trying to get her to listen to me. My teacher assured me that it wasn't just me but also something that is going on with her mentally. She is seriously like my baby! I love that dog so much. Anyway, there are some oils and maybe medicines that she can go on to help her out if it turns out she does have A.D.D. And I have to learn to be more patient....

Also, I included this on here because I think Bella looks like Ed from The Lion King. It may be more apparent when you are in person with her and she gets really hyper. Cate Bush has some pictures of Bells that I think looks exactly like Ed in the face.

25 things

I am really just putting this on here for my mom. This was a survey I did on facebook the other day but I knew that my family would enjoy reading it.

Here are 25 random things about me:

1. I was born in Lexington, KY! Even though I consider Raleigh my home, Lexington will always be a really special place to me.

2. I love to laugh!!

3. I am 1/4 German.... my grandmother was born in Germany and she met my grandfather while he was over there in the army, then she moved to Kentucky!

4. I am a movie fanatic. I love watching movies!! And I love movie stars. I have a subscription to People magazine, an extensive movie collection and I am always renting movies. Sometimes I become obsessed with certain movies stars and want to know everything I can about their life. I never go a full 3 days without checking out something on imdb.com (internet movie database). I am full of random facts of movie stars. Certain movies that I own, I have watched over and over and over again.

5. Tornadoes are my biggest fear.

6. Once when I was 5, I ran away from home with my friend who lived down the street. I think all I packed was chalk and magnets. I was gone for about 3 hours or something and then ran back home when I heard my parents calling my name. Yes, I got in a lot of trouble!!

7. The attic was connected to my old room at my dad's house via a tiny door on the back wall. I truly believed that an old man lived in there and was waiting to come out to get me the entire time I lived in that room. Sometimes, the door would creak open in the middle of the night. I then used to put pillows in front of it at night thinking this would block him from coming out. Sometimes the thought of this man would keep me up late at night......No such man has ever been found.

8. I am probably one of the most sensitive people you will meet. I think people are mad at me all the time and my feelings get hurt really easily. This is something I try very hard to control but sometimes silly things just get the better of me. I also cry very easily at movies.... and even sometimes corny commercials on the television!

9. I played soccer for a long time and I really miss it!

10. While I LOVE the beach SO much, I love the lake even more. I grew up with my grandparents having boats at the lake.... they are some of the best memories I have from my childhood. Warm summer nights sitting on a dock by the lake with a pina colada watching the fireflies and listening to the cicadas..... that is like heaven to me!!!

11. I love to read but only when it's something that I really want to read. If something doesn't interest me right away, I won't ever finish it.

12. I LOVE rollercoasters!!!!!!!!!!!!

13. I am a very pick eater. I will absolutely not eat cream cheese, sour cream, mayonaise, mustard, mushrooms, hot dogs, olives, seafood (except crab and flounder) and most cheeses. It used to be a lot worse.... I didn't eat tomatoes, hamburgers, steak and most veggies! I have branched out a bit and I am still trying!

14. I hate feet! I think they are gross and disgusting..... even my own. If you touch me with your foot, I know it. I cringe, get chills and am thoroughly disgusted. If someone's feet smell bad, I seriously become nauseated. And I don't think it's funny when other people touch me with their foot because they think it is funny.

15. I believe in Karma.

16. I got a half day of In School Suspension (ISS) in the sixth grade for lighting matches in the girl's locker room and making the entire school evacuate. I only got a half day because I turned myself in!

17. I am currently obsessed with Fried Green Tomatoes (the food)!!!

18. When I was a freshman in college, I had this huge thing on my lip that my friends and I believed was a brown recluse spider bite. Poison control confirmed that it sounded like it was. Lots of tingling and two dots in the middle..... My two suitemates (Laura and Ashley) and I ventured to the ER to find out it was just a really bad fever blister! The doctors all had a laugh.... in front of us! It really was huge and hurt so bad!

19. Whenever I come back from Kentucky, I have a different accent.

20. I cannot handle scary movies. I will always think I can but then I spend most of the movie behind my hands and then have trouble going to bed for the next few nights!

21. I went to Kenya when I was 18. I became very ill when I was over there and I had double vision for 2 months after I got back! I found out that I was allergic to the malaria medicine that I had to take and maybe a few of the others. I am not supposed to travel to 3rd world countries anymore!

22. I can recite about 80% of the movie Titanic..... while watching it, of course!

23. I used to wish with all of my heart that my name was beth or taylor and I had dark brown hair.... i have no idea why.

24. I hate seafood but after a long day on the beach, I LOVE to go out to dinner at a seafood restaurant. I usually end up getting chicken fingers but I guess I just love the atmosphere so much!

25. I cried when my pet beta fish, cordelia, died! she lived over a year and was so beautiful.

Julie's Birthday

We went out to eat at a Mexican restaurant and I was trying to get a picture with just Kristen.... but Cara and Kathryn totally make the picture with their funny faces in the background!!

Julie said "Hey, make a mean face." I don't like to make mean faces in pictures so I decided to do the complete opposite.

Happy Birthday to You!

This was last Saturday at The Pit in downtown Raleigh. Julie and I discovered this over the summer and it quickly became our favorite place to eat!! It is SOOOOOOO good. It is an upscale BBQ place but it is seriously the best BBQ I have ever had. Everything I have had there is great! For birthdays, they play the happy birthday song for you on a harmonica!!

Julie and I!

Kathryn and I! I love her!

Halloween.... haha!

So, this is the only existing picture of me from Halloween! Heather just recently uploaded it to facebook so I thought I would put it on here. You still can't really see my costume but I am sure you get the idea!

Cara's birthday

So two weekends ago was my good friend Cara's birthday. We had a very fun time! We went out to eat at Vic's and then went out downtown for a little while! Above is us at Vic's on Friday night!

Cara, Julie and I! I love these girls so much!

All of us.

Beth, Kristen, Cara and I! This is us at dinner on Saturday night (two weeks ago).

Lately at work....

I have done a really bad job of taking pictures of John lately! But we are having so much fun. I love his age so much! He is a year and a half and definitely wide open! He is running all over the place. He is talking a lot more now. He says his own version of my name ( sounds kind of like tare) or he can say Yaya (which is what my other friends' kids used to call me). We go to the library for story time, go to music time, attend playgroups, play outside, go to the pool and a lot more! I am just having so much fun with him and I love it!!!

more snow

So, after I came home from work (on the day of all the snow), I went sledding with my good friends Cara, Heather and Chuck. We walked all around near our apartment complex for probably two hours! Above was our favorite hill. If you look closely, Chuck is sledding down it! You can't tell but the hill was quite steep!

There is me after sledding down the hill! haha....

Pretty snow!!!

Cara and I over by the RBC Center.

Heather and Chuck!
